Edinburg- “We are the voice. There’s a future ahead of us.”
For UTRGV transfer student Valerie Kingan, voting, as she says, provides a better future for both students and the country.
According to the Hidalgo County Elections website, the “unofficial” early voting report for the UTRGV polling site, as on Sunday, October 28th, stands at 3,699 voters.
“This election is important. These elections will always be important, but this one today is important,” said Kingan.
Before becoming a permanent voting location, UTRGV began as a mobile voting unit. Meaning that on certain days during election cycles, representatives of the county would visit the campus and encourage people to vote. That was nearly 5 years ago.
And today, there is a consistent voter turnout at the the UTRGV polling location. With the university site seeing an average of 528 voters per day.
