Police Reports: 9-23-19

utrgvtv September 24, 2019

And here’s this week’s police reports released to us by UTRGV PD this past week:

On September 17 at 8:36 a.m. a female staff member reported that her ex-husband took her university issued laptop from her residence in Brownsville without her knowledge or consent.  She filed a police report with the Brownsville Police Department. The ex-husband has since been arrested for theft, but the laptop has not been recovered. At this time, it is unknown if the computer contained security sensitive information.

On September 18 at 11:34 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation on the south side of Unity Hall Drive. The operator was identified as a female student.  A check on her driver’s license revealed five traffic warrants for unpaid fines of 950 dollars. The warrants were confirmed and she was arrested without incident.  The vehicle was released to a family member at the scene. The student was issued written warnings for traffic violations and jailed in the Edinburg City Jail.

On September 19 at 12:20 a.m. a female student reported that someone placed a note, food, and a teddy bear on her bed in her room without her knowledge at the Casa Bella Apartments. Upon further investigation, it was determined her mother wrote the note and left the items inside her room.  It is unknown what time or how the mother entered the room. The lead resident assistant was on site and explained to the student to speak to her mother about the Rules and Regulations of the apartment complex.
