UTRGV – In 2019, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated an estimate of 5.4 million middle school and high school students use E-cigarettes.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is now placing a ban on any mint and fruit flavored vaping product this year.
“If you showcase a variety of flavors that taste like candy, or grape, or bubblegum, you’re marketing to children, and so it is a known harmful thing that’s being marketed to the most vulnerable population,” said Director of Student Health and Wellness Cristel Escalona.
Although this ban does not restrict tobacco and menthol products still available, the ban aims to decrease the number of deaths people dying through the use of caused by E-cigarettes.
