RGV – Younger generations are choosing to start online businesses as a form of income.
A survey by USAToday and LinkedIn finds that 42 percent of Gen Z working professionals are experiencing difficulty moving up in their field as an effect of the retirement delay. Because of this, employers struggle to keep younger workers as they move from jobs in search of higher positions and better pay.
Some younger workers, like student and part-time dance instructor, Alyssa Ramirez, found a solution to the issue. Alyssa started her online store, alys.accessories, via Instagram as a form of income that allows her to customize her work-life to fit with her lifestyle. “I have like a pretty big family so I was also really busy cause I do dance so I was, I didn’t have time for an actual job into my schedule,” said Ramirez.
