Edinburg- The Student Workers Labor Rights, recently delivered a letter to administration, regarding late payments and how they could improve this problem.
In the letter, it suggests that the university notifies the student when they will be payed, a timeline of the payment, and who they can contact regarding their payment.
“We collectively wrote a letter to President Bailey and Vice-President Grewal and Alvarez-McHatton. To kinda bring to their attention, the extent and gravity of the issues that we’ve been facing with late pay and with lack of communication about late pay,” said Stephanie Kasper, a UTRGV biology research assistant.
The motive to organize the group and create the group was from personal experiences that students faced.
“I was getting paid bi-weekly, so that’s two pay periods that I did not get paid for until late in September, and that’s unacceptable,” said Kasper.
