Harlingen Market Days

Nathaniel Puente November 8, 2018

Harlingen- On this edition of Music Craft, the city of Harlingen hosts Market Days a monthly event that features music at every corner. Our reporter Nathaniel Puente has more.

I’ve traveled to the Historic Downtown Jackson Street in my hometown of Harlingen, Texas for Market Days. It’s an event that is seething with music at every corner. There’s street performers, live bands playing, and music to be found everywhere you can imagine. So, let’s go check it all out.

Once a month, the city of Harlingen hosts “Market Days,” an event that caters to just about everyone. There’s good food, plenty of vendors, and dogs! It all takes place on the Historic Jackson Street. Fans of live music will be in awe as live bands perform hits new and old and street performers showcase their talents. If nothing outside catches your attention, the various antique stores located along the street surely will.

Where’s my favorite place to go? The Antique Emporium of course. Hidden behind the various knick-knacks is a magical place that will make any music-lover’s jaw drop. It’s Frank’s Record Shop, where music of all kind glitters dozens of crates. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars here and look to spending more.

Tony Ramirez has owned Frank’s Record Shop for over a decade and said the people who come in an out are the best part of the job.
