Sports Highlights: 2-26-19

For this week’s sports highlights, women’s basketball tallies up a close game with New Mexico State University, Saturday February 23rd.

New Mexico State had the start of its game with a good lead of 24 points in the third quarter. UTRGV’s #32 scored her ninth double-double of the season and Amara Graham scores a career-high 19 points putting UTRGV in a close call with New Mexico.

Both teams were keeping track of the scoreboard making sure neither got no more than eight points behind.

Putting UTRGV in the lead again is Graham when making a free throw to make it 11-5 with five minutes left on the clock in the first quarter.

Furthering the girls score is Megan Johnson shooting two free throws, now 14-9 still in the first quarter.

Here’s head coach Lane Lord with more from Saturday’s game.

Coming back into the second quarter of the game, UTRGV’s Idil Turk made a layup and #5 Jameka Dowell shoots two free throws now a score of 30-25 in halftime.
