And here’s this week’s police reports:
On February 15th, a staff member reported that he was approached by an unknown male and female who were requesting water on the Brownsville campus. The staff member stated he told the couple he did not have water which frustrated them. The staff member stated he later observed the same couple from a distance yelling at a professor walking by. The staff member stated that the couple did not appear to be affiliated with the University. No contact was made with the individuals. They had left prior to the officer’s arrival.
That same day, officers responded to the construction office trailer in lot B-1, in reference to a Burglary of Building. An unknown person gained forced entry through a window and stole computer equipment. A Clery Act Timely Warning Notification was issued. Some property has been recovered in this case. It was found abandoned off campus by a concerned citizen. This case remains under investigation.
And a female student expressed concern that her parents may have placed an audio/visual device to monitor her activity or conversations in her residence hall room on the Edinburg campus. The student requested a consent search to check for any device that may be present. A search of her residence and vehicle yielded no results. This report will be referred to UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review.
