Police Reports: 2-19-19

utrgvtv February 19, 2019

And here’s this week’s police reports:

On February 12th, officers responded to a men’s restroom at the Science Complex on the Edinburg campus in regards to a male student suffering from self-inflicted knife wounds.  The student was transported to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance for medical treatment.

That same day, a female staff member at the Counseling Center in the Brownsville campus reported that a male student during a counseling session made statements of having suicidal ideations.  The staff member contacted a mental health provider to screen/evaluate the male student. The screener determined the student did not meet criteria for inpatient care.

And two students reported being approached by two unknown males in the library who asked to be recorded while they danced as part of an audition for a dance club.  The two students agreed and used one of the unknown male’s cell phone. The students described the dance as inappropriate “twerking”. A report was filed to document the encounter.
