Holidays Bring Busiest Shopping Days of the Year

Elijah Noriega December 10, 2019

McALLEN – The last weeks of the year are the busiest for local retail stores. During the holidays, most of the revenue comes from local shoppers.

Steve Alenius, director and CEO of McAllen Chamber of Commerce, says a huge local population who shop local is a great advantage for the economy in Mcallen.

“Shopping local is important, I know people want to shop online, but I think also helping support local small retail independent businesses is important and I think you get that special customer service that you don’t get when you shop online,” said Mr. Alenius.

Specialty boutique stores that are in north Mcallen offer something unique that no other business can. Yazmin Garza, owner of Ragzrevenge says it’s her first year owning the business & expects to see more shoppers

“You have to drive people into your business, it’s our first year, hopefully. I feel everyone is trying to help out the environment out, so they buy second hand clothes which is less polluting to the world,” said Garza.

For more ways to shop local you can visit the explore Mcallen website page.
