
CAMERON COUNTY – The Cameron County Public Health department confirmed a case of measles has been identified within the county, originating from a non-resident on Tuesday, April 28.
According to official statement, Cameron County is working closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services to identify individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.
Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 1,792 cases of measles in the United States in 2026, in contrast to the number of cases (2,288) in 2025. Texas alone has reported 180 cases of measles, with 803 reported in 2025.
Cameron County Public Health has also shared an infographic identifying measles, the symptoms and vaccine information.
