EDINBURG – At the last home game, the UTRGV Marching Band debuted a brand new uniform that pays tribute to both university and Rio Grande Valley culture.
After nearly a year of development, the new uniforms have finally arrived, replacing the polos the marching band wore since the inaugural football season.
Dustin Ferguson, director of athletic bands, said the program grew too fast, leaving the organization without enough of the original uniforms.
The director said the shortage of the original uniforms sparked a collaboration with university leadership to design unique uniforms rooted in local culture.
