EDINBURG- UTRGV (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) is one of ten universities across the country who won the Seal of Excelencia certificate. This award recognizes college and university Latino students’ success.
According to UTRGV, ninety three percent of undergraduate students are Hispanics and Latinos.
UTRGV President Guy Bailey shared a message on receiving this prestigious award. The Excelencia in Education was established in 2004 in Washington, DC. This Seal Certification is effective for three years.
Ivan Santos an exchange student shared what UTRGV has provide for him as a graduate student.
“It has given me the opportunity to dream. Sometimes in my country it is hard to believe that you can work and study because there is not too much work out there. Here you can dream a lot of things and accomplish that,” said Santos.
