BROWNSVILLE – The skimmers were found at the Stripes gas station on 1400 military highway.
The Brownsville Police Department announced on their Facebook page that anyone who pumped gas here should check their bank statements for fraudulent charges. Brownsville PD strongly encourages people who find fraudulent charges to contact their bank and submit a report to brownsvillepd.com.
Brownsville Police Department public information officer, Martin Sandoval said there have been no reports of fraudulent charges since the incident occurred.
“What we ask people is number one, where you insert your credit card sometimes it’s always good to grab it, wiggle it and tug on it. It’s not supposed to come out. If it comes of then that’s a skimmer.” Officer Sandoval said, “And a lot of times all the pumps should have an integrity seal where the lock is, if that seal is broken, we recommend people not to use it and notify the clerk.”
