RGV – Cameron County has actively expressed their concerns with opening schools during this fall school semester as COVID-19 shows more signs of spreading around the Rio Grande Valley. Despite this, some religious private schools feel capable of resuming in-person classes and want to go against Cameron County’s regulations.
The county announced plans back in August to delay the start of classes for schools to September 28th. Since the delay, Laguna Madre Christian Academy has decided to threaten to take legal action against the county over the start date. The christian academy claims the delay interferes with their right to religious expression.
