UTRGV’s Women’s Soccer has officially turned its attention to Southland Conference play
Stephen Gutierrez EDINBURG – Now in the “Stewart era” and with a roster that featured several new players, the team says it has spent the early part of the season preparing and strengthening connections.
After the first eight matches of the season, the women’s soccer team entered conference play with a 4-4 record.
Natalie Singleton, sophomore midfielder, says she felt the games gave the team the experience needed to be ready for conference play.
“I feel like we’ve learned so much,” she said. “I feel like we’ve played so many different types of teams and their playing style.”
One of those teams was Texas State, which Singleton says taught them what facing high-level opponents requires.
Anuhea Aalona, freshman forward, says she feels the group has learned how to play and work well together from tough match-ups.
