EDINBURG- UTRGV Chief of Police, Adan Cruz spoke about the crime rates on campus and what safety precautions students could take.
“Just looking at the daily reports that we have coming through our crimes rates was very low,” said Cruz. “A few cases I have seen come across are related to crimes of opportunities, like thefts.”
Humberto Briones, a criminal justice major, shares that he is on alert for crimes.
“I feel like the police patrols really often and I really feel safe about that,” said Briones.
Cruz said he encourages the community to download Campus Shield, a free app available on all Apple iPhones and Android devices.
