EDINBURG– UTRGV is taking the first step to redesigning its homepage which is expected to launch on August 15th. The current website launched in 2015 after the merger of the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Texas at Brownsville.
According to Patrick Gonzales, UTRGV Vice President of Marketing and Communications, over 300 students took a survey to make suggestions for the website.
“In our research with those prospective students, the one thing they want is an easy way to find out what programs the university provides,” said Gonzales.
Gonzales said the current homepage is full of information, some that is no longer relevant. He adds the new website is tailored to help prospective students find a program they are interested in and provide information about the program.
“It’s really hard as a visitor of that website, if you put yourself in those shoes, it’s really hard to navigate,” Gonzales shared. “There’s a lot of menu items, you get a subset of menu items that go down far on the page and it’s just really hard to navigate.”
