RGV- Since the beginning of the pandemic in March, the economy in the United States has been declining. The closing of the international border in the Rio Grande Valley made sales difficult for local establishments.
UTRGV Political Science Assistant Professor, Carla Angulo-Pasel explains that the reopening of the border is very important because the Rio Grande Valley depends on people from Mexico crossing the border to buy goods from local businesses. She also adds that the debate between economic issues and health issues needs more attention.
“Hospital infrastructures and tons of unit infrastructures aren’t at the capacity of being able to handle a rising in cases,” explains Angulo-Pasel.
