Julia Guerrero EDINBURG– Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson presented at UTRGV last week as part of the Voter Education Tour. The event was held on the Edinburg campus as part of an initiative to spread awareness and information about voting.
Nelson said by highlighting the importance of voting an education the community with a statewide tour. She hopes it will make a difference in this year’s elections.
“I think it’s proven that people do want information and if this helps, then I think we can justify doing it again,” Nelson said. “I think an informed voter is one who will turn out.”
Nelson encouraged students to research the candidates running for office and exercise their voting rights in the upcoming primary elections on March 5.
