EDINBURG – Enya Poole lives in Brownsville – she’s been riding the school’s shuttle for two years now.
Poole was on her way to campus when her weekly trip became diverted by a vehicle malfunction.
“The bus shut down like three times. The staff knew that something…there was something wrong with the shuttle. Then they were telling us like ‘okay half of the people right here has a chance to go like to the big shuttle because it have like 42 spaces and the other one has to wait until the other shuttle…like the mini bus comes for you,’” Poole said.
We reached out to the Executive Director of Parking and Transportation Rodney Gomez and he tells us that buses are inspected daily. Gomez says pre-trip and post-trip inspections are required by law for anyone driving the buses.
He also says that if an unavoidable issue arises en-route — they take the bus out of service and provide an alternate bus as soon as possible.
