UTRGV- The Western Athletic Conference announced that senior Rooby Dalusma and junior Kyle Edwards have been named to be on the 2018 WAC Men’s Soccer All-Tournament Team.
Dalusma finished the WAC Tournament with a tournament leading four points after scoring a pair of goals against UNLV in the opening round, including the game-winner.
Edwards was second in the WAC Tournament with three points after scoring a goal and picking up an assist against UNLV.
The UTRGV women’s basketball snapped its two-game losing streak on Saturday with a 57-53 victory over Canisius.
Senior Idil Türk led UTRGV (2-2) with a game-high of 19 points. Then, senior Quynne Huggins added in 10 points with four rebounds.
As a team, UTRGV dished out 12 assists.
UTRGV took its first lead of the game after a layup by Huggins and then after exchanging baskets, a three-pointer by Senior Krisynthia Sampson tied it at 26-26. Sampson later knocked down another three-pointer to give UTRGV the 34-31 lead but Canisius scored the final three points of the half to go into the locker room tied at 34-34.
In the third quarter Junior Megan Johnson knocked down a jumper with 6:08 left in the quarter to give UTRGV its biggest lead of the third at 41-37. A jumper by Türk at the end of the quarter gave UTRGV the 43-42 lead.
