South Padre Island hosts holiday events

Ian Juarez December 3, 2025

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – In early November, the Facebook account “Visit South Padre Island” posted this year’s Holiday Event lineup hosted by the city of South Padre Island.

This year’s lineup consists of the SPI Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 4, the Street Parade on Dec. 5, the Lighted Boat Parade on Dec. 6, Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 7 and a fireworks display on New Years Eve.

The City of South Padre Island social media and international affairs specialist Dennise Villalobos says the events are “heavily community based”.

“We do involve some of our island businesses as vendors. And so, we can, you know, bring them exposure, to their business, to their organizations,” Villalobos said. “And so that way, people know what other things we offer here on our island.”

Villalobos shared how the city has plans to expand the events in the future.

“The Lighted Boat parade is the longest running one. That one has been a staple yearly event for over 30 years.” Villalobos said.

“And most recently, Breakfast with Santa with, the newest one. This one started barely three years ago. So with, you know, with the years more staple events have become part of this holiday weekend long celebration.”

For anyone who wishes to attend the events, the addresses are as follows:

-The SPI Tree Lighting will be at 321 Padre Boulevard

-The Street Christmas Parade: will run south from Padre Boulevard and Mars Lane to Acapulco Street

-The Lighted Boat Parade: will start at the Sea Ranch Marina running through Laguna Madre Bay

-Breakfast with Santa: will be at the South Padre Island Convention Center

-New Year’s Fireworks Display: will be at the entertainment district.
