PHARR, TEXAS – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is looking for donations to revitalize its food supply. With covid, inflation, and various weather patterns affecting food supply, the need for donations has been great.
CEO of the Food Bank of the RGV, Libby Saenz said that anyone is affected by hunger.
“Hunger doesn’t discriminate, it doesn’t factor in anyone’s economic status. You could be doing great now, and you could lose your job or get sick … it creates a domino effect, and the next thing you know you need supplies from the food bank,” said Saenz
Saenz adds that the Food Bank has seen, on average, 76 thousand individuals weekly, and over the holidays that number has gone up to 95 thousand.
She says the Food Bank has had about 70 loads of food canceled from government assistance.

These donations will help families in Willacy, Cameron, and Hidalgo Counties.
