And here’s this week’s police reports released to us this past week by UTRGV PD:
An update was released for the February 28th and March 8th cases on a female student reporting that her UTRGV ID card was utilized without authorization on the Edinburg campus. Upon further investigation of the cases, UTRGV PD detectives identified a 19-year-old female student as being responsible for the unauthorized transactions. Detectives obtained two (2) arrest warrants for the female student. Arrangements were made to have the student turn herself in at the Edinburg Municipal Court on March 15th. She was arrested without incident and was later arraigned and transported to the Hidalgo County Jail. These reports will be referred to UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review.
On March 18th, an officer responded to the MAGC Building in reference to a disoriented male subject. On arrival, the officer made contact with a male student who displayed signs of intoxication inside a classroom. After a brief interview, the male student was deemed to be a danger to himself or others because of his plans to drive away from the campus. The officer made contact with the student’s mother who arrived on scene and accepted responsibility. The proper documentation was obtained. This report will be referred to UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review.
And on March 19th, an officer was dispatched to location in reference to a female library staff member reporting a simple assault (unwanted contact) that occurred on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. The staff member reported informing a group of students occupying a study room that the Edinburg library was closing soon. A female student then slightly pushed the staff member out of the study room due her interrupting the recording session. Staff member expressed to the female that the contact was not appreciated. The students concluded their recording session and left the study room without further incident. Staff member does not want pursue the case criminally, she only wanted the incident documented.
