EDINBURG- The Rio Grande Valley Youth Democratic Socialists of America hosted a rally Oct. 7 on the Edinburg campus to spread information on the Palestine and Lebanon conflicts through pamphlets and numerous speeches from event organizers.
Dozens of attendees marched through campus waving numerous signs and chanting.
Jacob Becho, president of the Rio Grande Valley Youth Democratic Socialists of America, spoke on how he came to support Palestine and Lebanon after learning about the conflict as a teenager.
“I realized that, like, their story parallels, like the story of the Palestinians really parallels the story of the Native Americans in this country, how they were systemic, how they had their land systemically stolen from them. And eventually they face genocide and persecution,” Becho said.
The rally was scheduled for two hours.
University Police and UTRGV officials were present.
