Earlier today, University Police arrested a man who was allegedly selling yoga books on the Edinburg campus for refusing to leave the premises.
According to a statement provided by Chief Adan Cruz, University Police was dispatched to the area between the library and the Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academic Building on the Edinburg campus in reference to a man who was allegedly selling yoga books to students.
Cruz said officers advised the man of the UTRGV policies and procedures regarding solicitation.
UTRGV’s Handbook of Operating Procedures, Section ADM 10-104, states “no solicitation shall be conducted on any property, street, or sidewalk, or in any building, structure, or facility owned or controlled by UTRGV or the UT System unless permitted by the Regents’ Rules.”
The police chief said the man refused to leave campus, which led to his arrest for violating a criminal trespass.
