EDINBURG – The UTRGV center for Mexican American studies is honoring Chicana author, poet, and scholar Gloria Anzaldua with a literary landmark.
Stephanie Alvarez, Associate professor of Mexican American studies said Anzaldua’s work has been taught for close to 20 years and has received positive feedback from students that feel seen and validated through her work.
“It’s a bid deal because in Texas there are only five literary landmarks and now we’ll have one here at UTRGV in the valley”, said Alvarez.
She says many professors have taught Anzaldua’s books and essays and will continue to do so.
