BROWNSVILLE – Students who are searching for a career in the hospitality and tourism field no longer have to worry, as UTRGV is now offering hospitality and tourism majors.
“The hospitality and tourism industry is a huge industry not only locally, but globally,” says Dr. A.J. Singh the director of the Hospitality and Tourism Management in the College of Business at UTRGV.
“Within the UT system, we don’t have a Hospitality and Tourism Management program, so UTRGV would be the first one to be offering this degree. Hospitality and Tourism Management is also a business major, and it has the advantage of getting students started in a specific industry,” said Singh.
He says those who currently are in a major, are open to doing a minor in hospitality and tourism.
“If you don’t even want to switch your major or do a minor, you are certainly open to take a few courses, because all majors usually have some electives,” he continued.
Dr. Singh says by choosing the Hospitality and Tourism Management major or minor, students will graduate with potentially multiple job offers, as the field has so many opportunities.
