McAllen- The political election hype continues to surge with the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas shining a spotlight on female political candidates in the Hidalgo County.
The nonprofit organization originates in Dallas, but has now spread to the Rio Grande Valley. The chairperson of HWNT says the mission of the organization is to promote participation of hispanic women in public, corporate, and civil areas through a broad awareness of their role in society, business, and family.
Each month HWNT hosts a dinner and forum that presents a different topic, with this month’s being “Women in Politics.”
The theme of this month’s dinner and forum is titled “The Last Women Standing,” focusing on some of the local female political candidates.
“Our purpose is to educate. Educate the women on who these candidates are and what they stand for, what they believe, and that way it’ll give the women an opportunity to vote the smart way,” said Cynthia Sakulenzki, the chairperson for HWNT-RGV.
