Greek Life hosts “Penny Wars” for Donations

JC Marquez Jr November 20, 2024

EDINBURG – UTRGV fraternities and sororities hosted “Penny Wars” at the Edinburg Chapel Lawn to raise donations for the Palm Valley Animal Society.

Palm Valley Animal Society is a non-profit organization based in Hidalgo County; providing shelter and care to over 10,000 animals annually.

UTRGV Fraternity and Sorority Life Graduate Student Assistant, Audrey Solis, shares the amount of donations received during the Penny Wars.

“On Tuesday, our first day of the fundraiser we got over 400 hundred dollars so we’re hoping that we either shoot for the same amount or we get a little bit more than 1,000 dollars for both days,” Solis said.

According to Solis, if individuals are unable to make a donation, Palm Valley Animal Society accepts volunteers to help the shelter.

Solis advises students to reach out to the Center for Student Involvement for more volunteer opportunities on campus at csi@utrgv.edu
