Mission- The highly anticipated ‘Ay Mariposa’ film made its world premiere at the historic Cine El Rey.
According to the flyers description, it’s a documentary about “the fierce commitment to home, justice, wild beauty and the future of the US/Mexico border lands.”
The story centers on two women, Marianna Trevino Wright and Zulema Hernandez.
And a community of butterflies that stand on the front lines of the battle struggling to fight against the border wall.
‘Ay Mariposa’s director gives us more insight on the purpose for her film.
Martha Garcia a UTRGV student, in the Environmental Awareness Club attended the screening. She says it’s important to bring light on these issues concerning the border wall.
A panel discussion featuring the director and the two main characters closed the night for the premiere.
