EDINBURG – The UTRGV Campus Activities Board is hosting UTRGV’s first ever renaissance fair with the Knight Out Renaissance Fair on April 9 at the Edinburg Campus Chapel Lawn.
Deyanira Ramos, Campus Activities Board Student Experience and Special Events chair, said the renaissance fair is ‘kind of like a sister event’ to the Union Con which was hosted on both campuses in late March.
“I want people to be able to see that there’s, like beauty on campus,” Ramos said. “And I want to bring that out. I also want to encourage like the renaissance ambiance.”
Some of the events at the Knight Out Renaissance Fair include archery, jousting, wand and shield making, tarot card readings, tattoos, face painting and a costume contest.
Ramos said the Campus Activities Board is teaming up with various organizations on campus such as the Knights Guild, Sweet & Savory Society and Young Democratic Socialists of America to bring students on campus closer together.
Dresden Sanchez, co-chair of the Young Democratic Socialists of America, encouraged anyone to show up to the fair and participate in its activities.
“Mostly just, you know, to, like, help people have fun, I guess, introduce people to a new experience,” Dresden said. “Also, you know, to recruit. Right? I think it’ll be an opportunity for people to get to know us and maybe decide that, you know, that they get along with us and maybe come up to a meeting or two.”
Any updates to the event can be found on the Campus Activities Board Instagram and Discord.
