Edinburg- In other news, the Community Historical Archaeology Project with Schools, an organization best known as “CHAPS,” debuted a Rio Grande Valley documentary, “Just a Ferry Ride to Freedom.”
The documentary showcased the Valley’s history with the Underground Railroad during the Pre-Civil War. The film highlights various mixed-race ranchers and illustrates how culturally diverse the Valley really is. Mario Deleon, one of the directors of the documentary, says many Rio Grande Valley residents aren’t aware of the history that the RGV entails.
