RIO GRANDE VALLEY- In a Brownsville ISD Police Department statement, posted on Sept. 7, stated a student got arrested because he allegedly sent the threatening messages within a group chat to his friends. He implied he would bring his gun to his school, Jubilee Pablo Kisel.
Numerous school districts across the Valley, such as McAllen, Mercedes, Alamo and Weslaco received similar life-threatening messages.
Although none of its schools were directly mentioned in any of the threats, multiple school districts still released statements which declared all threats would be taken seriously.
Edinburg CISD Chief of Police Ricardo Perez Jr. said even if their intended to be pranks, there will be legal consequences.
“Because of Uvalde all threats are taken seriously,” Perez said. “We have the manpower and resources to mitigate that and investigate those things.”
In the same Brownsville police statement, the department urged parents to “speak with their children about the seriousness of making such threats and the consequences that follow.”
