Student Takes On TSC Administration

Nathaniel Puente December 4, 2018

Brownsville- Some UTRGV students have to take the shuttle between the two campuses every day. It’s an exhausting experience that takes two and a half hours round trip. But for one TSC student, getting to class takes a lot longer than that.

Joseph Hasse, a student at TSC, has had to walk countless miles during his time in college to get to the ITEC Center, a building that hosts classes for those seeking Information Technology degrees like Joseph.

TSC does not provide a shuttle to the ITEC Center. Hasse has tried countless times to bring this issue to the administration.

“I went to student services and the lawyers completely denied it,” Hasse explained. “I went to the Brownsville City Council and talked to BMetro, actually.”

Hasse has been sent in a carousel looking for answers. His luck turned worse the more he pressed the issue.

“After about a year and a half, I got totally fed up and that’s when I went to the Texas Southmost College Board of Trustees and told them I refuse to walk another mile.” Hasse continues, “After I made that speech, I started getting armed guards sent on me.”
