UTRGV- And here’s this week’s police reports.
On November 3rd an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a red light off campus on 1900 West University Drive. The driver, a non-affiliated male, was determined to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. The male provided a sample of his breath which yielded a breath alcohol content of 0.15 and 0.13. The defendant’s criminal history yielded four prior convictions for Driving While Intoxicated which enhanced the charge from a misdemeanor to a felony.
On November 5th an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving without lights when required off campus on 200 North Jackson Road. A name check on the male driver, a current student, revealed him having active traffic warrants totaling $ 440.00 out of the Edinburg Municipal Court. The driver was placed under arrest for the active warrants and transported to the Edinburg City Jail for booking procedures.
On November 7th an officer responded to the UTRGV PD lobby in regards to an assault that had already occurred between two male staff members at the Casa Bella Apartments in Brownsville. The fight started over differences of opinion dealing with political views. Case is under investigation.
