Rio Grande Valley- Many cities in the Rio Grande Valley received a boil water notice after a winter storm in mid-February.
Mcallen Public Utility General Manager, Mark Vega says that the notice applies to people who plan on cooking with water or drinking it.
“Just because your community is in a boil water notice, doesn’t mean that the water has bacteria in it. That’s a safety precaution the state makes mandatory, that you do,” says Vega.
“What we saw around the valley was a boil water notice because their system lost power and their back up power just could not keep up with the demand of the system.”
