EDINBURG – Last week was International Education Week. The UTRGV International Admissions and Student Services held their annual International Food Festival.
Last Thursday the International Admissions and Student Services hosted the annual International Food Festival. This year’s festival was based on the culture of South Asia. The main focus was on India and Bangladesh. Students were introduced to games, music, and cultural traditions.
“We’ve had an influx of students from Bangladesh as well as from South Asia and one of the things that we strive to do is to make our international students feel comfortable they’re here to learn but at the same time we think that they’re here to teach. They have a lot of culture and of course the food, the dancing that you saw in there. The tattoos and all this stuff. They have many things to share with us, so we like to do to feature those areas where we have international students, so they can share they’re cultures with us,” said Dennis Hart, associate vice president for the Office of Global Engagement.
Hart hopes students will continue assisting future festivals during International Education Week.
