EDINBURG – UTRGV football is currently on a nine-game winning streak at home, and with three more match ups in the Robert and Janet Vacker stadium, the Vaqueros are fully embracing its home-field mentality.
In a press conference at the end of the last home game, TJ Neal, fifth-year safety, mentioned “protecting the ‘Vack’ at all costs.”
Through community service events, sold-out home games and the overall support from the Rio Grande Valley, Neal said the connection between the team and the ‘956’ has only grown stronger.
“So that’s all that energy, all that, like, bond,” he said. “That really is what I’m talking about there.”
That bond is what the Vaqueros say helped them build a flawless home record in its career.
