BROWNSVILLE – On Friday, Brownsville metro announced that six new hybrid-electric buses were joining its fleet of vehicles.
These blue buses are designed to combine electric power with a conventional engine. It’s expected to improve efficiency and reduce emissions that are released by traditional diesel buses.
The six hybrid-electric buses were each named to represent Brownsville culture with names such as Monarcha, Harambe and Colibri.
UTRGV students can ride the Brownsville metro free by showing a student I.D. to the driver.
If any residents want to catch a ride on these new buses, they can visit the Brownsville metro website or its social media for a full schedule.
