With the spring semester now in full swing, UTRGV held their bi-annual Welcome Week Block Party at the new quad, hoping to bring students and faculty together to participate in campus traditions and to get excited about the new academic year.
The Block Party had many booths and activities for students to engage in, including food and live DJ services.
Director of Student Union Edna Zambrano said around 20 student organizations were present helping run the games and she hopes students will be able to connect with friends and organizations.
“[Block Party] gives students to come back to campus, maybe connect with their friends, and today we have 20 student organizations to help run the games and serve food,” she said, “and an opportunity for them to help connect with students that maybe want to join their organization.”
Welcome Week will be continuing throughout next week with the Block Party at the Brownsville campus happening on Wednesday Jan. 24, and two showings of Pitch Perfect, with the Edinburg showing at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 23, and at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Brownsville campus.
