EDINBURG- People with Down syndrome are often misinterpreted, but one young woman is here to prove that anything is possible with a little spirit.
Viva Lopez is one of seven hundred people who are diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth.
Viva and her mother Mary Jane Lopez work to give people with Down syndrome a voice and shut down discrimination as acceptance and inclusion has been hard for this family.
“They told me she wasn’t going to make it to the next day, but if she would. She wasn’t going to be able to move or do anything and she has prove them wrong,” said Mary Jane Lopez.
Viva is an active participant across the valley and shares how happy she is to have many friends. Both hope to continue to spread Down syndrome Awareness across the community.
