UTRGV – The program is expected to start spring of 2022 and is now accepting applications from students with a bachelor’s or a master’s in physics and a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
Dr. Efrain Ferrer, Chair of Graduate Committee, said the department is expected to admit about 70 students to the six-year program.
He added that the first two and a half years of the program are dedicated to coursework, while the remaining years will focus on research.
“I’m pretty excited, I think it’s going to be great for a variety of disciplines here at UTRGV so that way it’s not so astronomy focused,” said Victor Perez, Physics Graduate Student. “A PH. D program will bring everything else up to the level of recognition astronomy has.”
Application dates for Spring and Fall 2022 are due on Dec. 1st and Feb. 11th.
