Brownsville- The U.S. National Weather Service hosts the NWS Weather Festival in Brownsville.
The festival featured weather balloon launches, educational activities, and served to inform the public on preparing for weather disasters.
The main focus of the festival is to teach the public how to be safe during harsh weather conditions.
“Issue forecasts everyday, but most importantly hazardous weather warnings to keep people safe. If a hurricane is coming we’re here. If a flood is coming we’re here. If hail or wind are coming we’re here. If a drought or heatwave is coming, we are here to do all of that,” said Barry Goldsmith, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
