UTRGV – The Herd is a student life organization created to promote school spirit and start a loyal fan base at athletic events. It’s also the name of the student section that cheers on the Vaqueros.
The volleyball and soccer teams are in the midst of conference play, and basketball season will start November ninth. The Herd is actively seeking members to join them in creating a strong home court advantage.
“I didn’t feel like we had that school spirit, but I know we’re trying to build that up, and it’s something that I want to be a part of”, said kinesiology graduate student Gabriela Valdez while attending a soccer game last week.
Valdez said, “I didn’t feel like we had that school spirit, but I know we’re trying to build that up and it’s something that I want to be a part of. It’s that school spirit, hearing everybody cheering. Especially at volleyball games, oh my gosh, they’re so fun.”
