EDINBURG- The Texas Health System Edinburg opened a new patient tower as an expansion of the facility. The expansion includes five brand new floors with their own designated area.
The first floor will offer a comfortable experience and a brand-new emergency room, including two new trauma bases which give multiple people the opportunity to be in a trauma room.
Lance Ames, CEO of South Texas Health System Edinburg explained that this project will have the first Radiology Center in the Rio Grande Valley, incorporating a 3T magnetic resonance imaging and a 604 slice CT scanner that shows results in about three seconds.
“As fast as it is able to get it done with the high residency that it has you can even catch even between heartbeats. So, if you are needing a scan for the heart, one very easy scan and it’s very detailed,” said Ames.
After receiving a lot of feedback from the community, the leaders of the board decided on making a new woman’s imaging center. Women will now have their own space in the facility and is expected to supply 3D monographies, ultrasounds, and bone density. Patients will also be working with speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others.
This expansion will create over 100 new jobs in the Rio Grande Valley. Hiring events are expected to take place at the south Texas health system Edinburg every Tuesday.
