TEXAS – Delta-8, a popular cannabis extract, has been banned in Texas, causing problems for some hemp businesses.
On October 15th, the Texas Department of State Health Services updated their list for controlled substances. This includes all products that contain delta-8.
Director of Operations for South Texas Infusions, Preston Flores said that delta-8 is a significant seller for many hemp businesses.
Flores explains many businesses did not hear anything about the ban from the state until searching the DSHS website.
“It is going backwards, I thought this would lay down the groundwork for the legalization of marijuana. Some companies are gonna go bankrupt. There is a lot of people that just got into the industry, made investments, had to order product. They are gonna have to take a loss,” Flores said.
A hearing on a lawsuit by Houston CEO suing the Texas DSHS to stop the ban is set for Friday November 5th.
