EDINBURG- Protestors gathered at the Edinburg City Hall to protest the “Heartbeat Bill,” which became effective last Wednesday. Governor Greg Abbott signed the bill into law in May, which bans abortion as early as six weeks into pregnancy.
“I am heart broken, I am upset, and I am sad,” said Ivania Gutierrez, Founder of RGV Safe Project. “It has been a really upsetting day, but we are not going out without a fight.”
“People need to be more compassionate,” said Dr. Fernando Otero, a Gynecologist and Obstetrician at the Women’s Clinic at the Rio Grande Valley. “They need to think about what these women are going through.”
