EDINBURG- The Nolana Animal Hospital and Palm Valley Animal Society talked about the dangers of heat exhaustion in animals and shared some tips on how to prevent it.
Heat exhaustion starts when outside temperatures rise to 98 degrees Fahrenheit and has the potential of causing severe illnesses like heat stroke. In severe cases a heat stroke can lead to organ damage or death. Some symptoms to look out for in animal heat exhaustion are weakness, confusion, vomiting, and excessive panting.
“The best thing to do is make sure you have shade, some kind of covering for them to be able to remove themselves from the sun, having baby pools full of water that they in lay in if they overheated, always making sure you have fresh cold water for them” said Faith Wright, Director of Operations at Palm Valley animal society.
